We design the gear we want to use
Every tent we make is born from our own experience in the backcountry. We obsess over every detail of our shelters to address our own needs as users.
Award-Winning Tents Loved By People All Over the World.
This tent held up perfectly, did not come unstaked at all despite being whipped around like it was being shaken by an angry sasquatch, and I stayed totally dry inside. I could not believe it. Night two, we had another, similar storm - but with marble-size hail. I thought FOR sure the tent was a goner this time. Nope! No holes or tears, stood up to the wind, and I stayed dry yet again... I can't recommend it enough.

The Perfect Tent... Truly impressed by this marvel of tent engineering and will be trusting my life to it on some big mountains in remote places for years to come. It’s truly the end all be all tent for 4 season mountaineering.

As an Arctic expedition guide I've used just about every premium tent on the planet. Nothing even comes close to the kahiltna dome. The quality, thoughtful designs are rock solid stability are second to none. Sling fin builds a serious tent! Buy with confidence, you will not be disappointed!!!

Best tent I've ever used... The combination of storm worthiness and condensation management is unlike anything I've seen on any other tent, and it comes in such a small and relatively light package. I cannot stress enough how good the overall design and material choices are.

Frequently asked questions
Answers to the questions we hear most often.
Why support small, independent companies?
SlingFin is an employee-owned 3-person business. We believe that small, passion-driven businesses are the heart and soul of the outdoor industry. When you shop from a small business like SlingFin, the people who pick up the phone and respond to your emails are the same people who are designing and field testing our tents. We don’t answer to suits, absentee owners, venture capitalists, or bean-counters.
We make the tents we want to use (and do use) without having to compromise our designs to boost margins or quarterly earnings calls. We design our tents for longevity and performance which is why we use silicone- and PE-coated fabrics even though they cost more. We offer readily available spare parts and an in-house repair program to keep our tents in the field longer because planned obsolescence is bullsh*t. By supporting an independent business like SlingFin, you’re helping keep the outdoor industry passionate instead of giving your money to corporations run by people who’d rather die than spend a night sleeping on the ground.
What is SlingFin's warranty and repair policy?
SlingFin’s tents are guaranteed against materials and manufacturing defects for the lifetime of the tent. Our warranty does not cover damage due to improper use, such as using a tent outside of its intended use case or inadequate guying/anchoring, normal wear and tear, or natural breakdown of materials over time due to UV.
However, we can repair just about any damage to your SlingFin tent whether or not it’s covered under warranty. We have patched holes from dogs, bears, rodents, wind, fire, children, etc. Issues determined to be covered under warranty will be repaired or replaced free of charge at our discretion, and non-warranty issues may be charged a reasonable repair fee.
We are big believers in keeping our tents in the field as long as possible and believe that the more repairs and patches your gear has, the stronger your bond with it. When’s the last time you saw someone with all the tags still on their gear and thought “Wow, they look super legit”? To that end, we have a variety of spare parts and repair supplies available on our website here. Don’t see what you need? Drop us a line and we’ll do our best to get you fixed up.

How do I care for and store my tent?
If you treat your tent well, it will return the favor! The best way to clean your tent is spot cleaning with a soft cloth and warm water. The most important part of your tent to keep clean is the zippers. Zippers will wear out prematurely if they're dusty or gritty for long periods of time. If your tent needs a deep clean, we recommend gently swirling it in a tub with warm water and a small amount of gentle cleanser like any outdoor tech wash or unscented Dr. Bronner's. Make sure to rinse thoroughly. Never ever put your tent in a washing machine!
When storing your tent, it's most important to make sure it's DRY, DARK, and COOL. High humidity can lead to mold growth or premature breakdown of fabric coatings. UV exposure will break down the fabrics over time and high temperatures can also damage fabrics and coatings with prolonged exposure, especially when combined with high humidity.
